The Anna Centenary Library in Chennai stands as a monumental institution dedicated to promoting knowledge and education. It was inaugurated in 2010 to honor the birth centenary of C. N. Annadurai, a respected former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Spanning 8 floors and covering approximately 3.75 lakh square feet, the library is among the largest in Asia. Its vast collection exceeds 1.5 million books, encompassing a wide range of subjects, including science, humanities, arts, and more. The library offers several specialized sections, including a children’s section with over 60,000 books designed to engage young readers through interactive reading spaces. It also has a Braille section for visually impaired individuals, equipped with assistive devices and a robust collection of Braille books. In the digital age, the library has kept pace with a digital library that provides access to e-books, online journals, and databases, along with internet facilities for visitors.
